Biggest Loser Couples Million Pound Match Up

SHELLY SCHNEIDER

Location
I am entering the Biggest Loser Million Pound Match-Up with my husband Tom. I have been a huge fan of the Biggest Loser and haveseen every episode. I have had several health problems and because of that, I have gained 50 pounds. I have tried every diet without success. My husband has high blood preasure and high cholesterol. After watching the episode on 1/1/08 I am more motivated than ever to do this. I can't wait! Tom and I would like to lose 50 pounds each for a total of 100 pounds. I am currently working out with a trainer and plan to go on the glycemic index diet. I just want to feel good again and to be able to do things with my kids. I have wasted too many years trying to lose weight without success. I have sat on my couch watching the Biggest Loser and seeing the amazing results. It would be a dream come true to be a part of that and to show my kids that I really can do it!

Week 7

Well 7 weeks have gone by since the challenge began and I'm not where I had hoped that I would be. I mentioned a few weeks ago that I broke my foot and I was determined not to let that get in my way but it has. I have not been able to work out for 3 weeks now. By the time that I get home from work, my foot hurts so bad the last thing I want to do is exercise. According to my doctor I should be able to start working out in about 2 weeks. I can't wait. So all I can do right now is maintain a healthy eating lifestyle. I'm still trying to encourage my husband to work out but he seems to find every excuse not to. The most popular excuse is that there isn't any time. I've used the same excuse myself and have learned that you can make time if it's something that you really want. It just takes 30 minutes. I can guarentee that we spend more time than that watching TV. It's a daily struggle but I know that we can do it. I hope that everybody is entering their weight loss on the Biggest Loser Web site. I would really like to hear how everyone else is doing.

Week 6

Today I have finally been able to look at the blogs from some of the other people doing this challenge and honestly it's a little discouraging. It seems like there are so many people that are starting to give up! This Million Pound Challenge is such a blessing. Where else could you possible go to get the support that we all have? When I watch the Biggest Loser I see the difference this has made in their lives. I want to have that too. We can all do it. For those of you who are struggling, please don't give up. I didn't have a very good week but I'm not giving up. I have spent the last 7 years giving up. I'm still struggling with my broken foot and haven't done too well with the diet but I'm taking every day one day at a time and I will reach my goal. If any of you see someone struggling, please give them the encouragement that they need. We are all in this together and we need to be there for eachother.

Week 5 of our Journey

I have to say that after watching the Biggest Loser this week I am more motivated than ever. Last weekend I broke my foot and my first thought was how I would have to take myself out of the million pound challenge. Then I watched the Biggest Loser Tuesday night and saw that Mark had hurt his leg and had the same restricted activity that I do. When it came time for the weigh-ins, I said to myself "He couldn't have lost that much." He got ready to weigh in and I saw that he had taken his boot off, one that looks exactly like mine and he got up there and lost 9 pounds. That is amazing. After seeing that I now know that I am still in the game. There is no reason for me to give up. I'm going to call my trainer and tell him that I am ready to work out!!!! It just goes to show that anyone can do it. I just want to thank my family and friends for all of your support!!

Week 4 of our Journey

I thought that we had a really good week. We have been eating right and I've been going to the gym but I have only lost 1 pound this week. I can really relate to Jen on the Biggest Loser. It can be so discouraging when you eat right and workout really hard and it doesn't show on the scale. So I have been reflecting on the week and I realize that we do really well during the week but on the weekends we seem to struggle. We haven't made the best choices. With the Super Bowl coming up this weekend, we really need to plan ahead. We are going over to a friends house and we will need to bring our own "healthy snack" I'm not giving up though. It just amazes me what a difference this has made for my kids. They are eating so much better and my daughter is having so much fun working out with me. It's a special time for her and I. It's the only time that she doesnt' have her phone on her and I'm not focused on everything going on at home. I am going to do this. I just need to make some adjustments.

week 3 1/2 of the new begining

Hello every one,
This is Tom, the other half of Shelly & Tom. This is my first blog entry ever so no laughing! : ) Myweight loss journey has started of slow due to recent hernia surgery.
Lifting restrictions and such have made me take a slow road to things. So the physical training is little but this has allowed me to focus and discover more on our families eating habits.
Generally I do most of the cooking for our family, So I must take some blame for the weight of our situation. I'm trying very hard to bring more veggies and fruit into our diet, while limiting our processed wheat and sugar intake. The kids seem pleased with this but Shel and I are not great at it . I think that blood sugar levels have leveled out, this helps the afternoon crash drastically. I also believe that eating three balanced meals has turned up the metabolisim. With help I hope to post pics of my free weights ( tool pouch) and stair master (16 story bldg) that I'm trying to include in a healthier life style. Hope to be able to start working out for real soon and see better results. If there is one thing that I have leaned is that there is a MILLION ways that every day we can add to our health, Take the stairs, park in the farthest parking spot, play with your kids, or God forbid shut the T.V. off! I am a very active person with my work, and it has helped to keep me from being to far gone. BUT there is a big difference between strong and fit. I very much need to increase my cardio, with a family history of hi blood pressure and heart disese.Any extra weight that I don't have to carry up a ladder is a big bonus, and it would sure be nice to not be out of breath when I get there! Hope you all are doing well and sticking with it !
One last funny, Shelly is going to the gym with our daugter and has nick named her "Jullian Jr." cause she won't let her give up when she get tired!
